Clean Eating Recipe – Tofu with Ginger-Garlic Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 block of organic tofu, diced
  • 2 tea spoon of organic coconut oil (I highly recommend Trader Joe's Organic Coconut Oil) - make sure they are separate, because you need one for tofu, the other for sauce
  • 1 tea spoons of minced garlic
  • 2 table spoons of organic agave nectar
  • 1 tea spoon of dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tea spoon of mirin (rice wine)
  • 1 tea spoon of lite soy sauce
  • 2 dashes of cinnamon
  • 1 dash of ginger powder
  • 1 tea spoon of sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Make sauce first by combining agave nectar, dijon mustard, mirin, soy sauce, cinnamon, ginger powder and sesame oil in a bowl.
  2. Heat frying pan on high, add 1 tea spoon of coconut oil. Add minced garlic.
  3. When garlic is crispy, turn heat off.
  4. Pour garlic and oil into sauce bowl.
  5. Heat frying pan on high again, add the other tea spoon of coconut oil.
  6. Add tofu.
  7. Turn heat to medium, and cook tofu for 2 minutes, or until one side is golden.
  8. Flip each piece of tofu and cook the other side until it's golden too.
  9. Lay tofu pieces on a plate. Heat sauce in microwave on high for about 30 seconds.
  10. Pour sauce over tofu.

The sauce is tangy and sweet. It gives tofu slices a flavorful taste. I hope you liked today’s clean eating recipe, and I hope to see you next time.
